How to Schedule Instagram Posts: The Free Ways and a Faster One

Rawwij TeamOctober 3, 20264 min read

Scheduling an Instagram post means preparing it today and letting it go out on its own at the time you pick. You don't need a paid tool to start: Instagram lets you schedule from its app, and Meta Business Suite lets you do it from a computer. This guide covers both as they work in October 2026, then when a scheduling tool starts paying for itself.

In the Instagram app, a public account can schedule reels, photos and carousels. Create the post as usual, open More options on the last screen, turn on Schedule this post, pick a date and time, and tap Schedule. Instagram's help page currently allows up to 25 scheduled posts a day, up to 30 days ahead. Your scheduled posts are in your profile menu, under your tools, where you can edit, reschedule, share now or delete them.

What the app can't schedule: Stories are not on the list, and Instagram says product tags, collaborative posts, sponsored posts and fundraisers don't work with scheduled content. Every post is also scheduled from the phone, one account at a time.

In Meta Business Suite, on a computer or in its app, you can schedule posts, reels and stories for an Instagram business or creator account, and you don't need to connect it to a Facebook Page. Its planner shows what you have scheduled on a calendar. Two limits matter for reels scheduled from a computer: you can't add Instagram's music library, and you can't make a reel from photos when posting to Instagram.

Does scheduling hurt reach? Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, was asked exactly that in March 2026, and answered that scheduling a reel does not hurt its reach. What decides reach is the post itself and whether people engage with it, not how it was published.

When a scheduling tool is worth it: when you run more than one account, when the same content also goes to TikTok, X or Facebook, or when a team needs to see the same calendar. The free ways work one platform and one account at a time. A tool puts all of it in one calendar. Remember too that Instagram is moving to a limit of five hashtags a post, announced in December 2025.

In Rawwij you connect an Instagram professional account once, then schedule photos, carousels of up to 10, reels and stories from the same calendar as your other platforms. You can add a location and collaborators to a scheduled post, because Rawwij publishes it through Instagram's official API at the time you picked. Rawwij suggests your best day to post from your own engagement, and the best hour once the account has posted enough to tell. The free plan needs no card.
